We Promise To Get Your Memory Back: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE

Journey into the parallel world.

The main character, Syaoran, is the son of an archeologist, and lives in the country where his dad studies.  Syaoran meets a princess of the country, Sakura. As they grow up together, they begin to like each other.

They know that they will be together for good in the future. However, a man gradually upsets their relationship. The Princess Sakura has a hidden power that can change the world. The man tries to take it and Sakura’s power and memory are crystallized to be feathers floating in a different world.

Syaoran has to gather the feathers, or he cannot save Sakura and her memory. Syaoran makes up his mind to go on a journey for his loved one, Sakura.

However, he doesn’t have a special power to pass across dimensions. He struggles and he finally finds an owner of Mise, Yuko who is called the witch.  Syaoran pays a compensation to get the power to go to the different dimension. There are two other people who also wants to pass across the dimensions and they begin their journey.

The compensation that Syaoran payed was actually “Memories with Sakura.” So even if Syaoran gatheres all the feathers, Sakura cannot remember Syaoran. The relationship between Syaoran and Sakura will be gone as well. Syaoran still wants to save Sakura and keeps going on his journey.

This is a story of  Syaoran’s journey to save Sakura, who is the most important person for him.

Eri Sakai is going to introduce RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE.

Dazzling world.

-How did you find this manga?

I found RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE after reading Cardcaptor Sakura.  They are both written by Clamp (All-female Japanese manga artist group). Manga written by Clamp are all related each other.
I read this manga when I was in elementary school. It was hard to understand the story at that time, so I tried it again in collage, and I really enjoyed it!

-I see! What is your favorite part?

The characters travel the parallel world, which is very interesting to see. You’ll see old Japan, a neo-futuristic world, and under the sea world.

It Changes the humans Relationship.

–Did you have any favorite characters in this manga?

Fai D. Plowright who travels with Syaoran is my favorite! He looks like a laid back person, but he is always trying to go away from something. This is related to his past, it’s sad but also heart-warming.

-I see. Are there anything you learn from them?

I learned what “being strong” means from this manga. Not only Syaoran, but also Fai, Kurogane, Sakura and other characters have their own strengths.

–Please leave a few words before we wrap up!

Everyone has a different purpose of the journey, but they notice that they’re going toward the same purpose….You should have a look!

-Thanks Eri!

delivering the latest information

Ever since she can remember, she read WEEKLY JUMP, which is a weekly manga magazine read by teenagers in Japan, instead of picture books. The more she grew up, the more weekly and monthly magazines were piled in her room. She resisted throwing away lots of Manga even when she was told to do so by her parents. She resisted it because there are so many beautiful dramas and compelling characters which showed her the world she’ve never had. It was a precious time for her when she was little.
